All claims should be filed as quickly as possible, and no later than 10 days from initial occurrence.  No repair work should be done until an adjuster has contacted you and given his approval.  This only exception to this would be the need for emergency repairs to prevent further damage such as damage from a storm.  If possible, take photos before any repairs are made.

Depending on your carrier, these are a few different methods for reporting a claim.  Most companies now provide a toll-free number for 24 hour reporting of work-related injuries.  This information is normally included with your policy or your policy binder may contain a separate section with claim reporting information.  When you make your report, you should have your policy number, date of the injury and specific details on the injury and employees personal information available.

Quickly reporting your Workers Compensation claims allows the company to get the information filed and start the process of dealing with medical bills in a more timely manner.  They can also assign you a claim number which can be provided to hospitals or medical offices for this employee.

A First Report of Injury form should be included in your claims packet and will contain all the information your carrier will need to file your claim.
