Scheetz & Hogan Insurance Agency, Inc. dba Scheetz, Hogan, Freeman & Phillips was founded in 1993 in Greenville, South Carolina by Ron Scheetz of Greenville and Mike Hogan of Myrtle Beach. While the agency started in 1993, both Mr. Scheetz & Mr. Hogan entered the agency business in Greenville during the mid to late 1970's. Mr. Scheetz was a partner in Puckett-Scheetz, Inc. as well as a partner in Puckett, Scheetz & Hogan of Myrtle Beach. The Puckett-Scheetz Agency was sold to Corroon & Black (Willis Corporation) in 1989 and three (3) years later Mr. Scheetz left Willis to form Scheetz & Hogan.

In 1994, the agency acquired the Insurance Art Agency in Greenville.  From 1994 to 1999, the agency traded as Scheetz, Hogan & Sermons and upon Mr. Sermons retirement, the name was changed to include Tracy Freeman, a shareholder and key partner, to Scheetz, Hogan & Freeman.

In September 2004, the agency merged with Insurance Associates, Inc., owned by Roy Phillips, and changed the agency name to Scheetz, Hogan, Freeman & Phillips. Later that year, the agency purchased the commercial book of Coastal Plains Insurance of Clemson and Sanford Ware, the principal joined our firm.

The agency is managed by Ron Scheetz and employs 30 full-time insurance professionals. While primarily a commercial driven firm, the agency has a very active employee benefits department under the direction of Kathleen Illian, CLU and is becoming very involved in the personal lines area under the direction of Sharon Edwards, CISR.  Nancy Mason, CIC, manages the commercial division and Tracy Freeman, CIC provides leadership as the sales manager.
